1.    Who has been your most important mentor and why?

My cousin-in-law, Eric, is my most important mentor. Since an adolescent, I have benefited immensely from his willingness to take a bet on me and provide me with opportunities for growth. The most impactful moments of his mentorship began at family gatherings, where he challenged me to reflect on what it meant to be successful. He would show genuine interest in my overly ambitious goals and helped me to lay the foundation necessary to achieve those goals—all  while being a shoulder to lean on during life’s overwhelming moments.

2.    What inspires you in your day-to-day life?

In a world that is unforgiving at times, I am inspired by those who are working tirelessly behind the scenes to make our communities stronger and healthier.

3.    How are you helping to make Rhode Island better?

I believe I am striving to make Rhode Island better by demonstrating a commitment to radical empathy. As one of the co-founders of Hungry Fridays, a non-profit whose mission is to establish hope by delivering lunches to those who are hungry, I have the great privilege of giving back to the community every Friday, in the heart of Providence's Kennedy Plaza.

In addition to my work with Hungry Fridays, I take great pride in serving on the board of Millennial Rhode Island, which focuses on increasing the number of millennials in Rhode Island by providing network friendly events and professional/personal development workshops.

4.    What is one thing everyone can do to help move our state forward?

Spreading positivity goes a long way, whether that’s saying hello to someone while walking to work, holding the door open for someone, or asking someone how their day is going. I truly believe that positive thoughts are followed by positive outcomes. Like the great Brian Tracy once said, “An attitude of positive expectation is the mark of the superior personality.”
