RI Gas Prices Drop 4 Cents From Last Week

Gas prices in Rhode Island have dropped four cents this week, according to a recent survey by AAA.

The survey shows self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.31 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is three cents below the national average of $2.34, 37 cents lower than a year ago at this time.

“In the short term, oil prices are moving up and down based on OPEC production cuts and corresponding increased drilling in the U.S. Increased oil production by the U.S. may keep a temporary cap on prices, but traders will continue to monitor how OPEC cuts and increased oil exports from countries such as Iran will impact the market,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Northeast.
