U.S. Economy Adds 130,000 Jobs in August

U.S. economy adds 130,000 jobs in August.
U.S. job numbers grew just 130,000 in the month of August while unemployment remained at 3.7%, the Department of Labor reported on Friday.

“The economy is great. The only thing adding to “uncertainty” is the fake news,” said President Donald Trump on Twitter.

According to CNBC, monthly job growth has slowed to 158,000 per month compared to 223,000 per month last year.

Job Numbers

According to the Department of Labor, the labor force participation rate increased to 63.2%, its highest level since August of 2013.

The total number of Americans that are considered employed grew by 590,000 to 157.9 million.

The Department of Labor reports that the biggest gains for the month came from professional and business services, who added 37,000 jobs, while the federal government added 28,000.

Healthcare added 24,000 jobs and financial services jobs increased by 15,000.

The biggest job losses came in retail, who saw a decline of 11,100 workers.
