Elderly Providence Man Beaten and Robbed of $200

An elderly Providence male was beaten and robbed in front of 88 Harrison Street on Sunday, according to Providence Police.

The victim's wallet, which reportedly contained approximately $200 and two credit cards, was stolen.

Providence Police said that the elderly victim was transported to the hospital and received eighteen stitched to close the wounds he suffered during this attack.

According to Providence Police, "The assailant is described as a black male, possibly 15 to 19 years of age, 5'5" to 5'8" tall with a thin build." The suspect had a medium Afro, according to reports.

The incident was just one of a number of violent crimes in Providence over the weekend.

A 41-year-old man was stabbed on Friday night in Kennedy Plaza and on Sunday morning another stabbing was reported at the Shell station on Elmwood Avenue.
