Providence Police Officer Charged With Shoplifting in Warwick — Placed on Suspension

A man Warwick police were seeking for allegedly shoplifting has been identified as a Providence Police officer. 

Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements confirmed that officer Bill Dickey has been placed on suspension and faces internal charges, after Warwick police released photos of a man and a woman they said committed the crime on June 6.

Clements confirmed Dickey has been charged; Warwick Police did not respond to request for comment Wednesday morning.

Allegations of Theft

Warwick Police had released the following:

On 6/6/21, the pictured individuals were responsible for a shoplifting that occurred at Lowe’s (555 Greenwich Avenue) in Warwick.

The male and female suspect arrived in a white Chevy Tahoe SUV bearing what is believed to be a Florida registration plate.
