Robbery at Gunpoint Reported at Providence Gas Station, Police Investigating

Providence police are investigating a reported robbery at gunpoint at a Providence gas station on Friday. 

Shortly after midnight, police responded to Quality Fuel on Smithfield Avenue, where the store clerk told authorities a “black man in his early 20s, 5’6” - 5’8” in height weighing approximately 160 pounds" entered the store with two guns and demanded money. 

The clerk said he gave the suspect an unknown amount of money from the cash register; the suspect then proceeded to make his way behind the counter, where he obtained a large box and placed a large quantity of tobacco products in it.

The suspect then fled into the area of Foch Avenue. 

The gas station owner arrived shortly after and accessed the security camera footage for police. 

According to police, the video confirms the description of the suspect. 

Police are currently investigating.
