An employee at a Providence McDonald's has been charged with a felony assault after allegedly knifing a customer -- who complained about the food -- in a fight outside the restaurant.

About Incident

On Friday night, police responded to the McDonald's at 736 Branch Avenue for a report of a disturbance with a possible firearm involved.

Upon arrival, police spoke with a male with a laceration to his face — who told police he got into an argument with “several McDonald’s employees due to his order being wrong.”

The man with the laceration said a male employee had “challenged him to a physical altercation” outside. The victim — and his relatives — said the employee took out a pocket knife and slashed the victim down the middle of his face.

Police entered the McDonald’s, and said employees pointed out their colleague involved in the altercation.

A pat-down by police of the identified employee located a small pocket knife.  The employee at that time was placed in a police vehicle.

Employee’s Side

The employee told police the victim came into the McDonald’s complaining about the food and yelling at him directly; the employee said he agreed to the customer’s challenge for a fight in which the two “willingly stepped outside.”

The employee said the victim yelled to his relatives who were also outside to “get his gun” — at which time the employee slashed his knife at him.

The manager at the McDonald’s told police he would provide law enforcement with surveillance video.

The employee -- Shaheed Miller -- was charged with a felony assault, according to police.
