Police Seize Loaded, Stolen Firearm Along With Ammunition in Neutaconkanut Park

Providence Police seized a loaded weapon on Wednesday that was later found to be stolen, along with ammunition.

About Incident 

According to police, investigators with the Violent Crime Task Force were paying special attention to the Neutaconkanut Park area on Wednesday when they came across a vehicle playing loud music and surrounded by several subjects loitering and drinking.

Police found Angel Cortez in the driver's seat of the vehicle, who was removed.

Gun, Ammunition Located

A subsequent search by police located a black fanny pack that contained a black Colt 45 MK4 loaded with six rounds in the magazine.  

Alongside the pistol was a box of .45 cal cartridges containing 49 rounds.  

A further search of the vehicle revealed twenty-five black aces 12 gauge shotgun shells.

A background check was conducted on the firearm which came back showing it actively stolen out of Falls Township, Pennsylvania. 

Cortez was charged by the Task Force with failing to have a license or permit required for carrying a pistol, along with possession of a stolen firearm.
