Hurricane Harvey Causes RI Gas Prices to Rise 35 Cents From Last Week

RI gas prices rise 35 cents due to Hurricane Harvey
Due to the impact of Hurricane Harvey, Rhode Island gas prices are 35 cents higher than they were a week ago, according to AAA Northeast.

“It’s important to remember that the high prices are not caused by gasoline supply, but by the ability to move the fuel from the Gulf coast to the eastern seaboard. As refineries come back online and the Colonial Pipeline resumes operations, those issues will eventually be resolved. We would hope and expect that these spikes are short term and prices will soon return to their traditional post-Labor Day levels,” said Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs.
