RI Gas Prices Drop 2 Cents Heading into July 4 Weekend

Rhode Island gas prices dropped two cents this week, reaching the lowest point for this date since 2005, according to AAA Northeast. 

“Last week, the Energy Information Administration noted that U.S. refinery capacity has increased by 659,000 barrels per day since mid-August 2015, which is the equivalent of building a new refinery.Prices nationally have fallen for 24 consecutive days,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs. 

AAA Northeast’s June 26 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.27 per gallon.

Rhode Island’s price is one cent lower than the national average.

Gas prices are two cents higher than a year ago at this time.
