Suspect Arrested in Breaking & Entering in Smithfield

Smithfield Police announced they have arrested a suspect in a recent alleged breaking and entering. 

On Monday, Smithfield police released a photo of the suspect along with the reported crime (see below).

On Tuesday, the police department said an arrest had been made with the following statement:

"At approximately 10:00 AM on January 7, 2025, the Smithfield Police located and arrested Dennis Dussault, age 58, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, for the house break on Ridge Road. 

Dussault is charged with one count of breaking and entering of dwelling when a resident [was] on the premises. 

He is expected to appear in Kent County District Court Tuesday afternoon."

Smithfield Police are looking for a suspect in a reported breaking and entering in the town on Monday.

According to Smithfield police, at approximately 9:30 AM, officers responded to the incident reported on Ridge Road near the North Providence town line. 

A resident interrupted the suspect during the act, according to police. 

Police say forced entry into the residence was confirmed, and Ring doorbell footage captured images of the suspect. 

The individual is believed to have arrived at the scene in an older model Nissan Altima. 

The Smithfield Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in identifying the suspect.
