Shortly before noon on Sunday, police responded to the Open Table of Christ Church at 1520 Broad Street for a call of shots fired into the building.
A main focus of the church includes assisting the community with feeding the hungry and visiting the infirmed.
According to police, they met with the church pastor, who said his employee found a window with a bullet hole in it, and that several rounds hit the building.
Police reported that the bullet that went through the window hit the wall in the church's library; another round hit a dumpster by the building.
The incident is currently under investigation.
