Suspended RI Attorney Arrested for Threatening Supreme Court Justice

Suspended Rhode Island Attorney Nicholas Gelfuso was arrested by the Rhode Island State Police for allegedly threatening a Supreme Court Justice -- William Robinson.

Gelfuso, 36, had his license suspended by the Rhode Island Supreme Court on June 20, 2017.

He is being charged with threatening public officials and cyberstalking and cyber harassment.

Gelfuso was also a Moderate Party candidate for State Representative in 2012. 

The Arrest

The arrest stemmed from an investigation by members of the Rhode Island State Police Major Crimes Unit into allegations that Gelfuso sent numerous emails containing threats against a member of the state judiciary.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Gelfuso’s arrest on Friday and he was arrested without incident during a motor vehicle stop Friday afternoon.
