Woman Reports Being Robbed of $1,700 in Providence

A woman told Providence police she was robbed of jewelry -- and $1,700 -- in the city on Sunday.

Shortly after 10 PM on Sunday, police dispatched to the intersection of Douglas and Chalkstone for a report of a robbery.

Upon arrival police were met by a woman who said she was robbed while stopped at the traffic light at the intersection of Chalkstone and Douglas. 

She further stated that two subjects opened her car door while she was stopped and pressed something into her ribs and then took $1,700 from her pocket along with her necklace. 

She said she then pulled over and called police as two subjects fled outbound on Douglas Ave wearing dark clothing. 

The woman responded to central station to leave a statement with detectives.
