5 Takeaways From Brown’s 98-92 Loss to Maine

Blackmon leads Brown with 20 points
The Brown Bears men's basketball team (4-9) fell 98-92 to the (4-9) Maine Black Bears on Saturday in Maine. Brown has dropped two straight games and have one non league game remaining before conference play begins.

Brown trailed 83-80 with 3:45 to play in the game before the Black Bears went on a 11-5 run to go up 94-85 with 1:20 left.

From that point, Brown would not get closer than 6 points and that came with just 16 seconds left in the game. 

The Bears would trail 48-43 at the half, fighting back from a 12 point deficit  from earlier in the half when Maine used a 12-0 run to go up 27-15 after the game was tied at 15. 

The Black Bears are coached by former Rhode Island College head coach Bob Walsh. 

The Leaders 

The Bears were led by Tavon Blackmon who poured in 20 points and dished out six assists in th game while Jason Massey followed up with 17 points of his own. 

Next up 

Brown returns to action on Saturday, January 9th when they host Daniel Webster in their final non conference home game of the season. Tip off is set for 2 p.m.
