Anderson's 26 Points Not Enough as Brown Falls 95-73 to Northwestern

Desmond Cambridge added 22 points for Brown
Brandon Anderson poured in a career-high 26 points and freshman Desmond Cambridge added 22, but the Brown Bears fell to Northwestern 95-73 on Saturday afternoon.

Anderson’s points came on 8 of 17 shooting from the field and 7 of 9 from the free throw line.

Brown as a team only shot 39% from the field.

The loss drops the Bears to 6-6 on the season, while Northwestern improves to 10-5.

Brown Can’t Hold 2nd Half Lead

After trailing 42-37 at the break, the Bears rallied in the second half to pull ahead 55-48 following a Anderson three with 15:30 left to play in the game.

From there, Northwestern would take over.

The Wildcats would go on a 20-3 run capped off by an Anthony Gaines tip-in to take a 68-58 lead with 8:59 to play in the game.

During the run, the Bears went over 4:35 without a field goal. 

Brown would not get closer than seven the rest of the way.

Northwestern outscored Brown 53-36 in the second half to cruise to the win.

The Bears return to action on Wednesday, January 3 when they host NJIT at the Pizzitola Center.

Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Wednesday’s game will be Brown’s final non-conference game before they start Ivy League play on Friday, January 12 at Yale.
