Brown Can't Hold 15-Point 2nd Half Lead, Fall 68-62 to Central Connecticut

The Brown Bears men’s basketball team were unable to hold onto a 15-point second half lead as Central Connecticut rallied to beat the Bears 68-62 on Saturday afternoon at the Pizzitola Center.

"We have to learn from this, both the positives and negatives. We just didn't do enough to win,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin after the game.

Brown falls to 4-4 on the season, while Central Connecticut improves to 5-3 overall.

Central Connecticut Rallies

Brown led 45-30 in the second half after freshmen Desmond Cambridge and Zach Hunsaker knocked down back-to-back threes

From that point, Central Connecticut went on a 21-7 run to cut Brown’s lead to 52-51 with 7:44 to play.

Central Connecticut’s Shakaris Laney tied the score at 54 with 7:14 left.

After  Brown’s Brandon Anderson put the Bears up, 60-59, with 4:00 left, Central Connecticut took the lead for good, 61-60, on a layup by Deion Bute with 3:38 left. 

The Blue Devils would not allow the Bears to convert another field goal in the final four minutes.

They sealed the game by knocking down 4-of-4 free throws in final 48 seconds.

Next up

Brown returns to action on Wednesday, December 6 when they visit the Providence College Friars at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

Game time is set for 7 p.m.
