Brown Cruises Past Johnson & Wales 106-78 in Season Opener

Brandon Anderson poured in 21 points to lead Brown
Brandon Anderson poured in a career-high 21 points and the Brown men’s basketball team cruised past Johnson & Wales 106-78 on Saturday at the PIzzitola Center.

The 106 points scored by Brown ranks sixth best in Brown history.

"It was the first game in a Brown uniform for a lot of our players and I thought we showed some talent and athleticism. This is a brand-new team with an emphasis on getting to the free throw line by putting pressure on the defense,’ said Brown head coach Mike Martin after the game.

Brown starts the season 1-0.

Brown Cruises to Win

After leading by eight points, the Bears would trail the Wildcats 25-24 with 9:27 left to play in the first half before they would take over.

Brown would take the lead back, 27-25, on a Joshua Howard three and would proceed to go on a 15-0 run to take a 39-25 lead with six minutes left in the half.

Brown would extend their lead just before the half when freshman Tamenang Choh converted a layup with three seconds left to give the Bears a 58-39 lead at the break.

In the second half, Brown would lead by as much as 30 points before causing to the win.

Brown returns to action on Monday, November 13 when they visit Quinnipiac.

Game time is set for 7 p.m.
