Brown Falls to Columbia 89-82 Despite Cambridge's Double-Double

Desmond Cambridge posted his first career double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds, but the Brown Bears fell 89-82 to Columbia on Friday night.

The loss drops Brown to 11-13 overall and 4-7 in the Ivy League and into 5th place in the Ivy League. The Bears have lost three straight games.

Columbia held a 36-33 lead at the half, before outscoring the Bears 28-16 to build a 15-point lead, 64-49, after two free throws by Mike Smith went down with 10:29 left in the game.

The Lions would lead by as much as 16 points, 69-53, with 8:34 left to play in the game, before the Bears rallied.

Brown cut Columbia’s lead to five, 80-75, with 2:02 left to go on a layup by Zach Hunsaker.

The Bears then pulled within four points, 82-78, on a three-point play by Brandon Anderson with 1:27 left in the game.

Columbia pushed their lead back up to seven points, 86-79, but an Obi Okolie pulled the Bears to within four, 86-82, with 25 seconds remaining. 

However, Columbia knocked down three of their final four free throws to seal the win.

Next up

The Bears return to action on Saturday, February 24 when they visit Cornell.

It will be Brown's last road game of the regular season. 

Game time is set for 6 p.m.
