Brown Holds Off LIU Brooklyn 94-86 Behind Anderson's 24 Points

The Brown Bears men’s basketball team got a career-high 24 points from Brandon Anderson en route to a 94-86 win over LIU Brooklyn at the Pizzitola Center on Saturday afternoon.

The win snaps a two-game losing streak for the Bears.

"We did a lot of good things today and had contributions from a lot of different players. We needed this win after two tough losses on the road,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin after the game.

Brown improves to 3-2 on the season.

Brown Holds Off The Blackbirds

With the score tied at 74, Brown took the lead for good, 76-74, following two free throws by Obi Okolie with 5:10 left in the game.

The free throws sparked a 10-2 Brown run to give the Bears an 84-76 lead following a free throw by Barrington’s Matt DeWolf with 2:28 to go.

LIU Brooklyn’s Joel Hernandez would then knock down two free throws to get the Blackbirds to within four points, 84-80, with 1:47 left.

Three straight defensive stops by Brown resulting in baskets by freshman Desmond Cambridge, Okolie, and Travis Fuller would give the Bears a 90-80 lead with 41 seconds to go.

The Bears would go on to win 94-86.

Fouls, Fouls and More Fouls

Overall, the game was plagued by fouls and free throws.

Between the two teams, 59 total fouls were called, LIU committing 32 of them.

The Bears converted 31 of 41 free throw attempts, while LIU converted 21 of 28 free throws.

The game lasted two hours and 20 minutes.

Brown returns to action Sunday, November 26 when they visit in-state rival, Bryant.

Game time is set for 6 p.m.
