Cambridge Hits Game-Winning Three, Brown Beats Princeton 102-100 in OT

Freshman Desmond Cambridge hit a game-winning three-pointer with 4.4 seconds left in overtime as the Brown Bears edged the Princeton Tigers 102-100 on Saturday night in New Jersey. 

Cambridge finished the game with 32 points on 10 of 16 shooting from the field, including 7 of 9 from three. He also grabbed a season-high nine rebounds.

This performance comes after Cambridge poured in 29 points against Penn on Friday night. 

The win improves the Bears to 10-9 overall and 3-3 in the Ivy League. 

Cambridge Wins it in OT 

Brown trailed 100-98 with five seconds left in the overtime period after Princeton’s Myles Stephens knocked down two free throws. 

On Brown’s ensuing possession, Brown nearly turned the ball over, but Cambridge picked it up just before it went out of bounds, took three steps and knocked down a three from the corner to give the Bears a 101-100 lead with five seconds left. 

Princeton turned the ball over on their ensuing possession and sent Brown to the free throw line. 

Brandon Anderson knocked down two free throws with two seconds left to give the Bears the 102-100 win. 

Brown Rallies in 2nd Half 

The Bears trailed Princeton 87-81 with 3:27 left to play before rallying. 

Brown went on a 9-1 run with Cambridge knocking down a three and then two free throws in the final 25 seconds to tie the game at 90. 

Princeton’s Myles Stephens had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but his shot was blocked by Cambridge. 

Next Up 

Brown returns to action on Friday, February 9 when they host Cornell at the Pizzitola Center. 

Game time is set for 7 p.m.
