Cambridge's 33 Points Helps Brown Cruise Past Marist 90-69

Brown freshman Desmond Cambridge poured in a career-high 33 points to lead the Bears to a 90-69 win over Marist on Friday afternoon at the Pizzitola Center.

Cambridge’s 33 points are the most by a Brown freshman since Sean McGonagil netted 39 points against Columbia in 2011.

"I was feeling good today. My teammates saw I had the hot hand and kept feeding me for some open treys,” said Cambridge after the game in the post game press conference.

The win improves Brown to 6-5 overall, while Marist drops to 2-10.

"Our play in the last 30 minutes of the game was outstanding. I was extremely pleased with our 21 assists and just seven turnovers. This was our best performance of the year and a great way to go into the Holiday break,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin after the game.

Bears Run Past Marist

Brown trailed the Red Foxes 25-24 with 8:56 left to play in the first half before taking over.

From that point, Brown went on a  22-6 run to take a 46-31 lead at the break. Cambridge had nine points in the run.

In the second half, the Bears built as much as a 26 point lead following a three from Jason Massey with 3:30 to play in the game.

The Bears would cruise to the win.

Next up

The Bears return to action on December 30 when they visit Northwestern in Rosemont, Illinois.

Game time is set for 11 a.m. central time.
