Patriots Beat Dolphins 35-17 for 7th Straight Win

Rob Gronkowski and Rex Burkhead scored two touchdowns each to lead the New England Patriots to their seventh straight win, beating the Miami Dolphins 35-17 at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.

The win improves the Patriots to 9-2 on the season, while the Dolphins fall to 4-7 overall and have lost five straight games.

Gronkowski, Burkhead Lead Patriots Offense

Leading 14-7 in the second quarter, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady found Burkhead in the end zone for a touchdown to increase the Patriots lead to 21-7 following an extra point by Stephen Gostkowski.

The touchdown was Burkhead’s second of the game after running one in from two yards out in the first quarter.

Miami would close the to within 11, 21-10, on a field goal by Cody Parkey with 4:06 left in the half.

The Dolphins had a chance to cut the lead even further, however, Miami quarterback Matt Moore threw an interception to Stephon Gilmore to end the half.

In the third quarter, Brady connected with Gronkowski on a 15-yard touchdown pass to push the Patriots lead to 28-10.

The touchdown was Gronkowski’s second of the game.

The two touchdowns marked Gronkowski's 16th career game with multiple touchdowns, breaking the Patriots record previously held by Randy Moss. 

Patriots Seal the Win

The Miami Dolphins cut the Patriots lead to 28-17 and had possession from their own 39-yard line with 10:28 to play.

The Patriots defense would come up with back-to-back sacks in the form of Elandon Roberts and Kyle Van Noy to set up a 3rd and 28 for the Dolphins.

After an incomplete pass on third down, the Dolphins would go for it on 4th and 11 from their own 38, but the Patriots would come up with the stop, giving the offense the ball back.

Five plays later, Brandin Cooks sealed the Patriots win by scoring a touchdown on a jets sweep with 6:31 left to play to give the Patriots a 34-17 lead.

Brady would finish the game going 18 for 28 for 227 yards and four touchdowns and one interception.

Dion Lewis had 15 carries for 112 yards, while Cooks hauled in six catches for 83 yards.

The Patriots return to action on Sunday, November 3 when they visit the Buffalo Bills.
