PC Basketball Gets Commitment From Former Classical HS Star David Duke

David Duke committs to Providence
The Providence College men’s basketball team has received a commitment from former Classical High School star and Providence native David Duke for the recruiting class of 2018. Duke announced his decision via his Twitter account on Friday.

His decision to come to Providence comes a week after he canceled an official visit to Villanova to take an official visit to PC.

Duke is ranked by Scout as a four-star recruit and as the 48th best prospect in the class of 2018 by 24/7 Sports and 54th by ESPN. 

Duke was also being recruited by Virginia Tech and Florida.

About Duke

Duke is a 6’3” guard who started his high school career at Classical before going to Cushing Academy.

While at Classical, Duke led the Purple to the 2016 Division I state championship, averaging 20 points in the playoffs.

At Cushing, Duke helped lead the team to the New England Class AA championship

He is currently a 5th year senior at Cushing.

Duke will join guard A.J. Reeves and forwards Kris Monroe and Jimmy Nichols as part of the class of 2018.

PC’s class of 2017 includes guard Makai Ashton-Langford, forward Nate Watson, and center DaJour Dickens.

According to the 24/7 Sports Composite National Rankings, Providence has the 14th best recruiting class in the nation and the second-best in the Big East, behind only Xavier who ranks 9th.
