The Seahawks were picked to finish second in the Northeast Conference in the preseason polls and enter Saturday’s game with an overall record of 3-5 on the season.

Wagner is led by junior guard Corey Henson, who is averaging a team-high 14.7 points per game, while senior guard Michael Carey averages 12.8 points and eight rebounds per game.

PC Basketball - Two Things to Watch

1. Rust - The Friars have not played a live game in a week, and have spent most of that week dealing with exams. There will likely be some rust, and that could translate to a slow start, especially on the offensive side of the floor.

Providence can avoid a slow start by getting to the rim early and getting to the free throw line, not settling for jump shots and threes.

2. Size Advantage - PC’s big men Emmitt Holt and Kalif Young have both impressed at various times throughout the season, both able to convert around the basket and run the floor.

“I think they are going to have a lot of advantages night in and night out based on their versatility to play inside and out and handle the ball,” said Providence head coach Ed Cooley following PC’s last game against UMass.

They could impress again on Saturday when Providence will enter the game with a size advantage in the front court.

Bracketology

It is only December, but for what it's worth ESPN’s Joe Lunardi projects the Friars will get into the tournament for a fourth straight season and be a ten seed.

Providence has an RPI rank of 25 and strength of schedule ranking of 33 to this point in the season.
