Cambridge's 17 2nd Half Points Not Enough as Brown Falls 86-77 to Harvard

Freshman Desmond Cambridge scored 17 of his team high 22 points in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as the Brown Bears fell to Harvard 86-77 on Saturday night at the Pizzitola Center.

The Bears have now lost 17 straight games to Harvard dating back to 2009, when Brown edged the Crimson 61-59.

The loss drops Brown to 9-8 overall and 2-2 in the Ivy League.

Harvard improves to 9-10 overall and 4-0 in the Ivy League.

Brown Falls Short Against Harvard 

After trailing 37-33 at the half, the Bears cut the lead to two, 37-35,  on a dunk by Cambridge in the opening minute of the half.

From that point, Harvard went on a 10-2 run capped off by a dunk by Chris Lewis to open up a 47-37 lead with 16:49 to play.

Harvard would extend their lead to 15 points, 56-41, on a three by Bryce Aiken with 13:46 to play in the game.

Harvard would not let the Bears get closer than five points until a Cambridge free throw with 1:04 to play cut Harvard’s lead to four, 79-75, with 1:04 to go. 

However, the Crimson would outscore the Bears 7-2 in the final minute to seal the 86-77 win.

Brown returns to action Friday, February 2 when they visit Penn.

Game time is set for 7 p.m.
