PC Hockey to Play in Vegas Golden Knights' "Fortress Invitational" Tournament

The Providence College Friars men’s hockey team will take part in the Vegas Golden Knights’ “Fortress Invitational” this upcoming season.

PC is one of four teams in the tournament, the others being Army, Cornell and Ohio State.

"The Fortress Invitational provides our fans an opportunity to see some of the best college hockey players in the country with the unique in-game experience they are accustomed to seeing at VGK home games. We look forward to this tournament becoming a college hockey tradition in Las Vegas for years to come,” said Golden Knights President Kerry Bubolz.

The tournament will take place on January 3 and 4 in Las Vegas.

The Tournament

Puck drop for the first game of the tournament is slated for Friday, January 3, 2020, with the Army West Point Black Knights facing the Providence Friars at 5 p.m. PT, followed by the Cornell Big Red squaring off against the Ohio State Buckeyes at 8:30 p.m.

The Vegas Golden Knights will host the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues to highlight a triple-header of hockey on Saturday, January 4, 2020, starting at 1 p.m.

The consolation game of the "Fortress Invitational" will be played at 5:30 p.m. followed by the championship game.

Friday, Jan. 3

  • Army West Point Black Knights vs. Providence Friars – 5 p.m.
  • Cornell Big Red vs. Ohio State Buckeyes – 8:30 p.m.

 

Saturday, Jan. 4

  • Vegas Golden Knights vs. St. Louis Blues – 1 p.m.
  • Consolation Game – 5:30 p.m.
  • Championship Game – 9 p.m.
