21 to Watch in RI in 2021: Anthony Spiratos + Kenneth Zorabedian

Newco CEOs L-R Zorabedian and Spiratos
The coronavirus pandemic of 2020 turned many businesses on their heads, and perhaps none more so than in the restaurant industry.

With a myriad of executive orders coming from the Governor’s office, owners faced significant challenges, and among the most devastating, having to address staffing overages — quite simply, there were too many workers, and not enough customers allowed in establishments.

Enter entrepreneurs Anthony Spiritos and Kenny Zorabedian -- who want to bring food delivery back to the local level -- and away from GrubHub, DoorDash, and the likes.

With the “big” delivery behemoths charging exorbitant fees to restaurants to often less-than-spectacular results and lackluster delivery, these two entrepenuers saw opportunity.

Aquidneck Island native Spiratos and longtime Providence valet professional Zorabedian — each embarked on new and local business models to offer customers a more hands-on — but really, hands-of — approach.

Spiratos has launched "No Contact Valet" -- and Zorabedian, the food app "DASAP" -- delivery as soon as possible.

Each has tapped into the ranks of the un-and-underemployed in the food service industry, to offer them an opportunity to work — and for Rhode Islanders, the chance to support homegrown businesses.

Can they continue to make it work in 2021? Stay tuned to see what the appetite of Rhode Islanders has in store.
