Providence police are investigating the city’s latest homicide.
It is Providence’s 39th murder in the past 19 months.

A man was shot on Huxley Avenue on Saturday night and was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.
The murder took place just a block and a half from the Providence College campus.
Providence Police Major David Lapatin confirmed the location was at 89 Huxley Avenue.
The Providence FOP posted to social media, “Male shot in Providence College neighborhood, subject transported to Rhode Island Hospital."
Members of the City Council were posting messages on social media.
It was another night of violence in a city that sees shootings nearly daily and murders at a rate of two a month.
Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza made no statement and did not post to social media regarding the latest murder.
