A video obtained by GoLocalProv.com shows the moments leading up to the double homicide in Providence early Sunday morning.

Providence police on Monday released the names of two men who were shot and killed over the weekend as they continue to determine what led up to the violence.

According to Providence POlice Major David Lapatin, Abdoulaye Diallo, 24, of Woonsocket, and Abass Mbaye, 29, of Senegal, died at the hospital a short time after they were shot outside a house party on Cheshire Street around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

At a press conference on Monday, Lapatin gave a brief overview of what transpired Sunday morning.

“At 3:30 AM we were called to Cheshire Street for a report of a shooting — as we arrived, we observed two males who had been shot," said Lapatin. "They were both transported to RI Hospital by rescue and they both passed away a short time after.”

“We are starting to gather information and what we believe is that there was an after-hours party going on there,” he added. “The two victims and another friend entered….they could have possibly entered through a back door to the party were asked to leave. An argument started in the house and spilled out on the street. A subsequent fight started — and then shots rang out and these two people were killed.”
