The male victim of a stabbing in Providence over the weekend has died, GoLocal has learned.

Providence Police Detective Major David Lapatin confirmed his passing on Monday.

It is now being investigated as a homicide.

It is the city's 9th of the year.

The incident took place on Chalkstone Avenue.

Providence Police Detectives Major David Lapatin told GoLocal that the victim is in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital.
