Brown Beats Sacred Heart 82-77 Behind Cambridge's 25 Points

Desmond Cambridge leads Brown with 25 points
The Brown Bears got 25 points from Desmond Cambridge en route to an 82-77 win over Sacred Heart on Saturday night at the Pizzitola Sports Center in the 2018 Brown Bears Tip-Off Classic.

Cambridge’s points came on 10 of 18 shooting from the field.

"Some of those shots that Desmond made down the stretch were way harder than he makes them look. He makes them look easy, and those are really difficult shots when they were closing in on us,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin after the game.

The Bears improve to 2-2 on the season.

Brown Holds On

After leading 42-28 at the half, Brown saw their lead cut to three, 57-54, with 9:42 to play following an 11-0 run by Sacred Heart.

Sparked by five straight points from Cambridge, the Bears went on a 7-3 run to take a 64-57 lead with 8:14 to play in the game.

However, Sacred Heart would go on a run of their own and cut the lead to one, 69-68, with just a few minutes left in the game.

Cambridge then hit jump shots on three straight possessions to put Brown up 77-72 with just over a minute left in the game.

Leading 77-76 with 16 seconds left, Brown’s Zach Hunsaker knocked down a three-pointer to push the Bears’ lead to 80-76.

The basket was Hunsaker’s only points of the game.

Brown would go on to win 82-77.

"We're always happy when we win. It's too hard to win to walk away from a win not feeling good. We do expect a lot of our team though, and we have to play a little bit better with the lead in the second half. I give Sacred Heart a lot of credit for making it uncomfortable for us. A lot of guys contributed,” said Martin.
