Brown Overcomes 17 Point Deficit, Beat Cornell 57-56 at Buzzer
The Brown Bears men's basketball team (12-15, 3-7 Ivy) defeated the (12-14, 4-6 Ivy) Cornell Big Red 57-56 on Saturday night at the Pizzitola Center. Brown is now 3-2 in their last five games.

Trailing 56-55 with less than five seconds to go, Brown put the ball in the hands of Cedric Kuakumensah out of a time out and he nailed a jump shot with two seconds left on the clock to give the Bears a thriliing 57-56 win.
Brown trailed by 17, 40-23, with 17 minutes left in the game before making a furious rally. The Bears went on a 14-5 run over the next seven minutes to get themselves back in the game trailing 45-37 with ten minutes left to go. Then trailing 47-37, Brown went on a 9-2 run to pull themselves to within three at 49-46.
Before Kuakumensah's game winner, the Bears led for less than a minute in the game, breifly holding a 16-15 lead.
Brown was led by Tavon Blackmon who netted 17 points in the game while J.R. Hobbie followed up with 12.
Cornell was led by Shonn Miller who netted a game high 27 points and also pulled down eight rebounds.
Brown returns to action on Friday, February 27 when they host Penn at the Pizzitola Center.

Five Takeaways From Brown's 57-56 Win Over Cornell
Rafael Maia
Rafael Maia did not have a great shooting night at all for Brown, only going 1-of-5 from the field and registering four points.
However, he made himself effective in other ways that greatly helped the team.
Maia grabbed 11 rebounds, six defensive and five offensive, while dishing out six assists and coming away with one steal in 33 minutes of play.
Team rebounding
One thing Brown did a great job of in this game is rebounding the ball. The Bears outrebounded Cornell 36-28 in the game including ten offensive rebounds.
Maia led the way with 11 boards, Kuakumensah followed up with seven and Steven Spieth grabbed five boards of his own.
In fact, every Brown player had at least one rebound in the game except for Tyler Williams who only played three minutes.
Coach Mike Martin has to be happy with his teams rebounding effort in this one.
Tavon Blackmon
Tavon Blackmon led the Brown Bears with 17 points in the game on 6-of-12 shooting from the field and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
Blackmon also added three assists and grabbed a rebound in the game.
However, Blackmon also led the team in turnovers with six, Brown as a team had 12 turnovers.
Cornell cashed in for 14 points off of Brown's turnovers.
Cedric Kuakumensah
Cedric Kuakumensah netted 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line.
Kuakumensah also grabbed seven rebounds and had five blocked shots in the game.
Most importantly, Kuakumensah got the ball with two seconds left in the game and drilled a jump shot to give the Bears s thrilling come from behind win.
