J.R. Hobbie led the Brown Bears with a career high 21 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field, including 5-of-7 from three point land. Steven Spieth followed up with 19 points of his own in the game.
Penn was led by Matt Howard who poured in 19 points. No other Penn player reached double figures.
The Brown Bears return to action on Friday February 19 when they host Columbia at the Pizzitola Center. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.

Five Takeaways From Brown's 71-58 Win Over Penn
Tavon Blackmon
Tavon Blackmon poured in 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and 4-of-6 from the free throw line.
Blackmon has now reached double figures in six of the last seven and eight of the last ten games for the Bears.
Against Penn, Blackmon also grabbed three rebounds and dished out four assists against Penn.
Steven Spieth
Steven Spieth poured in 19 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field and 10-of-11 from the free throw line.
The 19 points are the highest point total Spieth has put up in almost two months dating back to when he put up 19 points against Central Connecticut on December 22.
Spieth also grabbed five rebounds, dished out two assists and had one steal in the game for the Bears.
J.R. Hobbie
J.R. Hobbie led the Brown Bears with a career high 21 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field, including 5-of-7 from three-point land.
The six shots that he made in this game are a season high as the most shots he has made in a game before Saturday night was five.
Hobbie has now reached double figures in three of Brown's last five games
Strong second half

The Bears came out strong in the second half and were not phased by two significant runs by Penn.
The Bears outscored Penn 42-25 in the second half.
Defense
Head coach Mike Martin has to be happy with his defense, especially in the second half where they held Penn to only 25 points.
In the game, Brown forced 12 turnovers and got 12 points off the turnovers while holding Penn to just 34% shooting from the field and 22% from beyond the arc.
The Bears also came away with six blocked shots in the game.
