Brown Edges Dartmouth 67-64, Earns 1st Conference Win

Brown led by eight, 56-48, with just over six minutes left in the game, but Dartmouth managed to cut their deficit to just one, 63-62, after Connor Boehm nailed a three with 34 seconds left. Brown's, Tavon Blackmon, then got himself to the free throw line and knocked down two big free throws to put the Bears back up by three at 65-62.

J.R. Hobbie led Brown with 17 points in the game while Rafael Maia followed up with ten points and 13 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.
Miles Wright led Dartmouth and all scorers with a game high 21 points.
The Bears return to action on Friday, February 13 when they visit Princeton.

Five Takeaways From Brown's 67-64 Win Over Dartmouth
Turnovers
One stat that head coach Mike Martin likely didn't enjoy was the 19 turnovers that Brown had in the game.
Tavon Blackmon and Cedric Kuakumensah led Brown with four turnovers each, and Dartmouth turned the 19 turnovers into 25 points.
Dartmouth was not all that much better as they turned the ball over 14 times, however, Brown only got 14 points out of it.
Cedric Kuakumensah
Cedric Kuakumensah did not have a great night offensively, only netting four points on 1-of-5 shooting from the field and 2-of-4 from the free throw line.
However, he was a force defensively, pulling down a total of 11 rebounds, nine of them coming on the defensive end and blocking three shots.
All of this coming in 27 minutes played.
Brown out rebounded Dartmouth 39-35 in the game.
Rafael Maia
Rafael Maia had a solid game for the Bears, netting 10 points and pulling down 13 rebounds for a double-double, his fourth of the season.
Maia's 10 points came on 5-of-11 shooting from the field and 0-for-1 from the free throw line.
Maia also dished out four assists and had three steals to go along with his double-double.
Hobbie bounces back
After not having a great game against Harvard, J.R. Hobbie bounced back against Dartmouth.
Hobbie led Brown by netting a season high 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field, all of which came from beyond the arc, in 33 minutes of play time.
The five made threes in a game are a season high for Hobbie. His previous high was four.

Ivy league Win #1
The Brown Bears beat Dartmouth 67-64 on Friday night at the Pizzitola center to earn their first Ivy League win of the season.
Brown has come close in a couple of previous games, notably at Yale and in the last game against Harvard, but they were able to get over the hump against Dartmouth.
Hopefully this sparks Brown on a little bit of a run as they hit the road for two games, the first at Princeton and the second at Penn.
