Bryant Football Set to Battle Long Island on ESPN3

The Bryant Bulldogs football team returns home on Saturday to host Long Island University at Beirne Stadium in Smithfield.

The Bulldogs (1-5) are coming off their first win of the season against Merrimack last week, while Long Island comes enters the game with a record of 0-4.

Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN3.

Bryant vs Long Island

Bryant and Long Island will be meeting for the first time as FCS members on Saturday.

The two teams played seven times as NE-10 members, with Long Island (then-called C.W. Post) winning six of the meetings.

Bryant won the last meeting in 2007.

Bryant Offense

Through six weeks of the season, the Bryant offense is averaging just 14.5 points and 295 total yards per game.

Bryant quarterback Kory Curtis has completed 71 of 137 passes for 860 yards and four touchdowns to go along with two interceptions.

He averages 172 yards passing per game and has a completion percentage of 51.8.

Wide receiver Vincent Nisivoccia has caught 50 passes through the first six games after hauling in eight last week.

The 50 receptions are tied for the third-most in a single season in program history.

Nisivoccia also ranks in the top 10 nationally with 8.3 receptions per game.

Freshman Anthony Frederick has hauled in 21 passes on the year for 314 yards on the year. He is averaging 15 yards per catch.

Running back Alfred Dorbor will look to build off last week when he rushed for a career-high 138 yards.

Bryant Defense

The Bulldogs defense comes into the game giving up an average of 29.5 points, and 412 total yards per game.

The defense is led by Jesse Nemerowicz, who enters the game with 278 career tackles, just seven shy of tying Thomas Costigan’s program record of 285.

Senior Thomas Wright comes into the game with 25.5 career sacks. He needs just three sacks to tie the program record held by Jeff Covitz.
