Bullock's 36 Points Leads PC Past New Hampshire 76-62

Rodney Bullock pours in a career high 36 points to lead PC
Rodney Bullock poured in a career-high 36 points to lead the Providence College Friars to a 76-62 victory over the New Hampshire Wildcats at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

"Rodney played great, you know it seemed like everything that he threw up was going to go in, the basket looked like an ocean and hopefully he continues to shoot like that, we are going to need it the whole year," said Providence head coach Ed Cooley in his post game press conference.

Bullock's 36 points came on 12 of 21 shooting from the field, including 5 of 8 from beyond the three-point line. Coincidentally, he shot better from three than he did the free throw line, hitting only 7 of 11 shots from the stripe.

With the win, the Friars move to 5-2 on the season, while UNH drops to 4-3 overall. The win was also the 200th of Ed Cooley's career.

"It means that we have coached a couple of good players, it means that I've had a job. I appreciate the schools that have given me a pay check so my kids can go to school and my wife can be happy, but to me that is a team thing," Cooley said on his milestone victory.

Friars Grab Control in the 1st Half

The Friars led 22-21 with 6:10 to play in the half before using three-pointers from Jalen Lindsey, Emmitt Holt, and back-to-back three-pointers from Bullock to end the first half on a 17-2 run to take a commanding 39-23 lead into the half.

Providence threatened to open the game up earlier in the half, leading 16-9 after a Maliek White three-pointer went down, but UNH would rally and go on a 10-2 run to take a 19-18 lead with 9:39 left to play.

PC would retake the lead for good on a jump shot from Kyron Cartwright to go up 20-19 with 9:02 left to play before closing the half strong.

PC Cruises in Second Half

In the second half, the Wildcats would use an 8-0 run to cut their deficit to 11, 66-55, with 4:51 to play in the game, but they would not get any closer.

"I thought we played a 30 minute game today, and then we made a lot of mistakes during that run that they had, we had three straight turnovers and they had three threes or three out of four possessions they had threes, but overall I thought it was a good win," said Cooley.

For the game, Providence shot a season high 57% from three, while shooting 59% from the free throw line.

PC has now won 13 straight games against New Hampshire.

The Leaders

Besides Bullock's 36, Kyron Cartwright added 12 points on 5 of 12 shooting from the field and Lindsey poured 11 points on 4 of 5 shooting from the field, including 3 of 4 from three.
