URI Falls 60-59 to Davidson in A-10 Thriller

The URI Rams (19-7, 11-4 A-10) fell 60-59 to (20-6, 11-4 A-10) Davidson on Wednesday night at the Ryan Center. The loss snaps URI's three game winning streak and puts them back into a four way tie for first place in the A-10.

After trailing by as many as 11 points in the second half, used a 17-3 to battle back and take a 52-21 lead with 4:30 left to play. The Rams would hold a 69-57 lead after a Hassan Martin made free throw with 27 seconds left in the game.

Davidson got the ball back with 27 seconds left and Jack Gibbs nailed a three-pointer from the corner to give the Wildcats a 60-59 lead with 13 seconds to go. 

URI got a final possession but a Jared Terrell three-pointer just missed giving the Wildcats the win. 

Hassan Martin led the Rams with 17 points and 16 rebounds while E.C. Matthews followed up with 16. 

Davidson was led by Tyler Kalinoski who netted a game high 21 points. Jack Gibbs followed up with 15 for the Wildcats. 

The Rams return to action on Saturday, February 28 when they visit La Salle. Tip-off is set for 12:30 p.m.
