NEW: Brown Transfer Cambridge Commits to Nevada

Former Brown basketball star Desmond Cambridge has committed to play for the University of Nevada. 

Cambridge made the announcement via his Twitter account. 

“It’s been a long process, but the road ends here. Excited for what the future holds for me at the University of Nevada. Coach (Steve) Alford and the staff have created a culture here that’s unmatched and I’m all for it,” said Cambridge in a tweet.

He will have to sit out one season before being eligible to play in 2020-21. 

GoLocalProv first reported that Cambridge was leaving Brown back in March, the day before the Bears played a CBI Tournament home game against UAB.

Last season, Cambridge was named Ivy League Freshman of the Year.

According to The Stepien -- which ranks college players' NBA chances -- Cambridge is the second best mid-major prospect to watch in 2019 out of ten ranked players. 

This season, Cambridge has averaged 15.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, helping the Bears to a 19-11 overall record and a 7-7 Ivy League record.

About Nevada

The Wolf Pack are coached by former UCLA coach Steve Alford.

Last season, the team went 29-5 overall and made it to the NCAA Tournament, where they lost in the first round to Florida.
