PC's Cartwright Named Big East Most Improved Player

Kyron Cartwright named Big East Most Improved Player
Providence College guard Kyron Cartwright has been named the Most Improved Player in the Big East, the conference announced on Monday. 

This is the second year in a row and the fourth time in league history that a Friar has been named Most Improved. Cartwright joins Ben Bentil (2016), Kadeem Batts (2013) and Herbert Hill (2007) as Friars that have earned the honor.

This honor comes one day after Cartwright was named to the Second Team All-Big East along with teammate Rodney Bullock.

In 2016, Cartwright averaged 5.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 4 assists per game while serving as a backup to Kris Dunn. 

This season as the starting point guard, he ranks third in the country and first in the Big East with 6.8 assists per game overall and 6.2 assists per game in conference play. This is the fifth straight season in which a Friar has led the Big East in assists. 

Cartwright averaged 11.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in the regular season helping the Friars to a third place finish in the conference. 

PC Set for Big East Tournament 

The Friars finished the regular season with a 20-11 overall record and a 10-8 record in the Big East for the second straight season. 

The Friars will face sixth-seeded Creighton in the first round of the Big East Tournament on Thursday, March 9 at Madison Square Garden in New York. 

Tip-off is set for 9:30 p.m.
