Red Sox Manage Only 5 Hits, Shut Out by Yankees 8-0

Reigning AL Cy Young winner Rick Porcello gave up six runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings as the Boston Red Sox fell 8-0 to the New York Yankees on Wednesday night in New York. 

The loss is Porcello's third straight and drops him to 3-8 on the season.

The loss drops the Red Sox to 32-26 overall, two games back of the Yankees for first place in the AL East.

All Yankees 

Leading 1-0 in the fourth inning, New York’s Chris Carter hit a three-run home run and then hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 5-0 lead. 

The Yankees would score one run in the seventh and add two in the eighth to go on to win 8-0. 

Boston only managed five hits against New York's CC Sabathia, who picked up his 7th win of the season.

The Red Sox and Yankees wrap up the series on Thursday, June 8 at 7 p.m. 

The pitching matchup is Boston’s David Price against New York’s Michael Pineda.
