URI Men's Basketball Hit With More Players Transferring

From last year's team, nearly a total of six players during the season have entered the transfer portal, including Brayon Freeman who left the team in February after a dispute with first-year head coach Archie Miller.
Miller's Ram's were 9-22 and lost 9 of their last 10 games of the season.

On Monday, senior redshirt guard Jalen Carey announced he was entering the transfer portal -- he was a regular starter and averaged 9.9 points per game.
Late last week, rising sophomore Louis Hutchinson, a guard/forward, announced he was departing Rhode Island
Redshirt freshman Abdou Samb, a 6’8” forward and sophomore Sebastian Thomas announced their entry into the portal two weeks ago. Thomas is a Bishop-Hendricken grad and led the Rams in assists.
Sophomore Ishmael Leggett also entered the NCAA's transfer portal.
Leggett's departure comes just a couple of months after Miller dismissed Freeman - he had only been with the Rams for less than a year after transferring in from George Washington University.
Leggett and Freeman led the Rams in scoring and second and third, respectively, in assists.
Two New Rams Coming In
Last week the Rams announced two new players.
High Point guard Jaden House now transfers to Rhode Island basketball. The Rams will need him to be a major scorer, with about 90% of the scoring departing.
House this past season averaged 17.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Rhode Island has recruited junior college transfer Tyson Brown -- he is 6'9" with a Big East body.
