Man and Woman Shot in Providence Overnight

A man and woman were shot in Providence overnight in the Hartford section of the city. 

According to witnesses, a “hooded gunman” fired multiple rounds into a group of people who had been gathered outside an apartment.

About Incident

Shortly before 2 AM on Sunday, police responded to reports of a shooting at 235 Hartford Avenue. 

When police arrived, they said there was blood visible on the sidewalk.

Officers were told a female victim had already been driven to Rhode Island Hospital; a male victim who was shot in the leg was transported by rescue to the hospital. 

Police said they were told a group of people had been sitting outside listening to music when shots rang out. 

Witnesses said a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt was the shooter and that he fled on foot. 

Police said multiple vehicles at the scene had what appeared to be ballistic damage and that shell casings and live rounds were located. 

According to police, the victims are both in stable condition.
