In his place, freshman Cyril Langevine made his first career start and tallied three points, five rebounds and four blocked shots in the game.

Rams Get the Win

The Rams led 15-11 with just over eight minutes to play in the first half before closing the half on a 16-6 run capped off by an E.C. Matthews three-pointer to take a 31-17 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, URI would build their lead to 15, 35-20, with 16:32 left in the game.

Old Dominion would get as close as eight, 35-27, with 10:49 to play, but would not get any closer the rest of the way.

With the win, URI improves to 6-3 overall, while Old Dominion falls to 5-3 on the season.

“We had a tough week last week and we own those failures. I’m proud of the way these guys bounced back tonight, though. They came out and played their best defensive game of the season without our best defensive player. That was about as intense a defensive effort as you’ll see in college basketball all year,” said URI head coach Dan Hurley after the game.

The Rams held Old Dominion to just 29% shooting from the field and just 17 first-half points, a season low for Old Dominion.

The Leaders

Matthews led the Rams with 15 points on 5 of 13 shooting from the field. This was the first time in five games in which he has reached double-figures scoring.

Jared Terrell added seven points for the Rams.
