NEW: Red Sox Advance to The World Series

David Price pitched the Red Sox into the World Series
For the first time since 2013, the Boston Red Sox are headed back to the World Series.

Boston beat the Houston Astros 4-1 in game five of the American League Championship Series (ALCS) and advance to face either the Los Angeles Dodgers or Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series.

The Red Sox are the 16th Boston team to reach a championship in the last 16 years.

For the Red Sox, it is their fourth trip to the fall classic in the last 15 years.

Red Sox Beat Astros

With the game scoreless in the third inning, Boston’s J.D. Martinez hit a home run to left field to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.

The Red Sox would add on to their lead three innings later.

Still up 1-0 in the sixth, Boston got a leadoff double from Mitch Moreland and a single from Ian Kinsler to put two men on base with no outs.

On the very next at-bat, Rafael Devers belted a home run to left field to give the Red Sox a commanding 4-0 lead.

Houston scored one run off Boston reliever Matt Barnes in the bottom of the seventh, but were unable to get any closer.

Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel came on in the ninth inning to get the save.

Price Dominates

Red Sox starter David Price pitched arguably the best postseason game of his career.

Starting in place of Chris Sale, Price tossed six innings, while striking out nine batters and giving up just three hits.

It is the first postseason win of his career.
