Red Sox to Face Yankees in ALDS Starting Friday

For the first time since 2004, the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees will meet in the playoffs.

The Yankees advanced to face the Red Sox in the ALDS after beating Oakland 7-2 in the American League Wild Card game on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.

It will be the first playoff meeting between the two teams since the 2004 ALCS which saw the Red Sox come back from a 3-0 series deficit to beat the Yankees in game seven.

The ALDS begins on Friday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Fenway Park.

Game two is set for Saturday, October 6 at 8 p.m., also at Fenway.

Red Sox vs Yankees This Season

This season, the Red Sox and Yankees played each other 19 times with Boston taking the season series 10-9.

Boston is the only team that that Yankees had a losing record against during the regular season. 

The Red Sox went 7-3 at Fenway Park, but just 3-6 at Yankee Stadium.

The Red Sox led the league in runs per game with 5.41 and scored over a half run more per game against the Yankees (6.11).
