With the game tied at 0 in the second inning, Betts led off the inning with a home run off Tampa’s Alex Cobb to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.

Betts would give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead in the sixth inning with an RBI single. It was his 12th RBI in eight games.

Betts would score a run following a two-out double from Rafael Devers to put Boston up 3-0.

Tampa’s Adeiny Hechavarria led off the seventh with a double against Porcello.

He moved to third on a passed ball and scored when a throw from Boston first baseman Mitch Moreland bounced off a runner on a double-play attempt.

However, the Rays would get no closer as Craig Kimbrel picked up his 33rd save of the season in the ninth inning.
