"To say that when we got him from the Angels that he would be running a streak of starts consecutively like he is, no - he's surpassed the initial expectation. He's doing a great job,” said Red Sox manager John Farrell after the game.

The Red Sox picked Fister up off of waivers in June after he opted out of his Triple-A contract with the Angels.

Boston improves to 79-61 on the season. The Red Sox now have a four game lead over the Yankees in the AL East.

Red Sox Break Game Open

With the game tied at 1 in the bottom of the fourth, Xander Bogaerts lined and opposite field RBI triple and then scored on a single by Rafael Devers to give the Red Sox a 4-1 lead.

Jackie Bradley Jr. then hit a home run into the Red Sox bullpen to make it 5-1.

The Red Sox would add another run in the 6th and cruise to the 6-1 win.

Next up

The Red Sox have an off day on Thursday, before starting a series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday at Fenway Park.

Friday’s pitching matchup is Boston’s Drew Pomeranz against Toronto’s Chris Archer.

First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
