Bogaerts 3-Run Home Run Powers Red Sox Past Blue Jays 10-7

Xander Bogaerts hit a three-run home run to help the Boston Red Sox to a 10-7 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.

The Red Sox improve to 92-66 on the season and maintain a three-game lead over the Yankees in the AL East.

Red Sox Break Game Open

With the game tied at four in the top of the third, the Red Sox offense exploded for five runs in the bottom of the inning to give the Red Sox a commanding lead.

Hanley Ramirez led off the inning with a home run to left field to put Boston up 5-4 before Mitch Moreland scored on a RBI single by Rafael Devers.

Bogaerts broke the game open with a three-run home run to left field to put Boston up 9-4.

Boston would add a run in the 7th inning to go up 10-4. They would hold on for the 10-7 win.

Porcello Wins, But Struggles

Rick Porcello picked up his 11th win of the season, but struggled.

Porcello allowed five runs, seven hits, and two walks while striking out eight in 5 2/3 innings.

A year after winning the AL Cy Young award, Porcello posted 11 wins and 17 losses on the season - the most losses of his career.

Next up

The Red Sox return to action on Thursday, September 28 when they host Houston at Fenway Park.

The pitching matchup is Boston’s Eduardo Rodriguez against Houston’s Brad Peacock.

This is the final series of the regular season.

Game time is set for 7 p.m.
