Red Sox Eliminate Yankees, Advance to ALCS

The Boston Red Sox are on to the ALCS.

The Red Sox beat the New York Yankees 4-3 on Tuesday night to close out the series and advance to face Houston in the ALCS.

With the score tied at zero, the Red Sox took a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly by JD Martinez that scored Andrew Benintendi.

Boston got an RBI double by Ian Kinsler and an RBI single by Eduardo Nunez to take a 3-0 lead and end the night of Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia.

Boston would add their fourth run of the game on a home run by catcher Cristian Vazquez to take a 4—0 lead.

The Yankees would score their only run of the game in the top of the fifth when Brett Gardner would hit a sacrifice fly to score Gary Sanchez and make the game 4-1.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Yankees loaded the bases and scored a run after Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel hit Neil Walker. 

New York would add another run on a sacrifice fly by Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez to cut Boston's lead to 4-1. 

However, Kimbrel would get New York's Glyber Torres to ground out to end the game. 

ALCS up Next

The Red Sox advance to the ALCS where they will face the defending World Series champion Houston Astros. 

Game one is set for Saturday, October 13 at 8 p.m. at Fenway Park.
